You are a nit! You read too much into these expressions. Here you are being true to yourself, you should echo some praise to yourself down those years. Goodness you were posh, when I was young we never had furniture, or doors we had it tough! We thought it luck if we had a cardboard box! Shades of Monty Python – and please as an American never say at least in these words, ‘I love your Monty Python’ all statesiders do!!

    Zaijian.

ps Where/when did you pick up my habit of knowing the scientific name for birds, plants, animals?

I never thought of my growing up years in life as being posh because of hearing my parents complain about how poor we were. My father was always saying he didn’t earn much money whenever I asked him about it. I think the depression era kept my parents believing they were still poor even though now I know that wasn’t the reality. Plus, they compared themselves against the neighbors we had who were very wealthy and in the high class of society.

I don’t mean to be putting down my parents by being honest, but I do realize now that they were the kind of people who cared way too much about what other people thought of them in regards to appearances. That would explain why I was always forced to dress up as a child whenever guests came over or when we went visiting. Thank God that wasn’t often because I couldn’t stand it and I’ve got plenty of pictures which show how obvious that was! I absolutely hated wearing dresses because of how uncomfortable they were, but even more than that, I hated having to have shoes on! I could tolerate sneakers. Being barefoot in the summer was my ideal.

The only one I want to praise is God. If it wasn’t for Him, I wouldn’t even be here in this world anymore.

As to Monty Python? How can I say anything about it when I can barely remember more than the fact that it’s British Comedy. You really like a lot of things that relate to the Chinese culture, huh?

I’ve got to go watch “Monk” right now. Adrian Monk . . . another under-appreciated aspie guy.

RE: ps — Please don’t think I ‘know’ the scientific name for birds, plants, and animals. To ‘know’ things, names, and/or people, means to be able to recall them. I can ‘call’ them, but I can’t ‘re-call’ them.

John Cleese in M.Python is a well known depressive – did you know? Highly inventive. Do you get to see ‘Fawlty Towers’ in the States? ……I’ve just looked on youtube and the small clips don’t seem so funny anymore, tho here is an amusing hotchpotch:

I try not to get depressed about my poor ability to remember. I’m not sure what it was that I read about John Cleese. My best guess is that it was a post on WrongPlanet.net saying he’s another aspie? I do remember ‘Fawlty Towers,’ but only vaguely. Just a few days ago was the first time I heard an advertisement for the British Broadcast Channel on cable. That would explain why I don’t see shows like ‘Fawlty Towers’ or ‘Mr. Bean’ anymore. I’d love to get rid of cable television because I can’t stand what it’s becoming (trash!). I’d rather buy the DVDs of what I like (the volume would be minimal) or borrow them from the library.

I enjoyed the youtube clip of ‘Fawlty Towers’ more than what I did when watching it on television! I think that’s because of the added effect of the music and it being done is short clips. Or maybe because I haven’t seen it in a long time? Anyhow, thanks for the uplift of humor on this dim and rainy day here (which actually are my favorite days to go on walks in the woods!).

PS — I forgot to add why I periodically use scientific names and/or ‘professional’ terms. I do it to simply spice up my writing since I usually try to make what I’m saying understandable to everyone but yet I also don’t want people to think that’s the level of where my mental abilities are. In other words, I still have somewhat of a habit of trying to to please everybody all the time.

I too am quite happy to be out on a dull and rainy day. I enjoy ‘sensing’ the elements, wind, rain. Within reason.
