If an adult stumbles across the path of another adult who refuses to compromise in order for that ’stumbler’ to feel comfortable with the ’stumblee,’ then the stumblee is viewed as being ‘unable’ to compromise. But no matter which end one is at, everyone who refuses to compromise believes about his or her own self, “I am able to compromise. I just don’t want to, because I know I’m right!”
Who in the world has the ability to know the difference between someone being unable verses unwilling to compromise?! As with all things in life, there is a time to compromise and a time not to compromise — just like there is a time to conform verses not conform. If no one ever refused to conform, there would never be any reformers. If no one ever refused to compromise, there would be no integrity left or principles valued.
If people think that debates get hot over conflicting political issues and faith, they haven’t experienced anything as hot as some conflicts can get within a neurodiverse mix of people! Those who don’t stand their ground, lose their ground to stand on.
