Soon another annual walk for Autism is about to arrive. It’s being put together by a local chapter in the Autism Society of America. At the beginning of February of this year, I was reassured by someone at this local chapter that the local group for adults on the autism spectrum would be included in a support list on their website. They were sent at least two e-mails with the weblog address of this group; one of which had a direct link. Not only did they not publish the group’s weblog link on their website, they also never contacted me back to tell me why.
I don’t know if I’ll bother to talk with anyone from the Autism Society at this annual walk. They’re proven themselves to have deaf ears to autistics. It makes more sense to talk with as many of the other thousands of people who will show up there that day. I am hoping that other adults in the aspie group will offer their support by coming to speak up too. Hey guys, if any of you are reading this . . . you know I’m talking about you!
